John Russell Young letters [manuscript], 1867-1891.

In a letter, 1867 September 18, Young asks [Nathan Cook] Meeker to send his young friend Albert Crandell to see him. In a letter 1881 December 18, Young replies to A. R. Henry. saying he has no plans for any work outside journalism at this time. In a letter, 1891 August 11, to "Dear Sir," Young refers to proposed articles for an occasional series presented by J. W. Merrill. Expresses his willingness to pursue this idea.

Colorado pioneer, Nathan Cook Meeker was born in Ohio in 1817. He worked as a newspaperman, traveling salesman and teacher throughout the United States. Meeker was selected by Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune, to found the agricultural community known as the Union Colony of Colorado at present day Greeley, Colo.
